We are honored and pleased to announce the Cycle of Lectures: Phenomenology between times and places, which will take place on June 23 and 24, 2021, promoted by the Department of Philosophy and Methodology of Sciences (UFSCar) with the Department of Psychology (USP-FFCLRP). The event will be broadcast online and live on one of the digital platforms.
The Cycle of Lectures: Phenomenology between times and places will bring together renowned researchers and authors in the field of phenomenology and its main interfaces, in philosophy, psychology, politics, the arts and the most diverse sciences. It will propitiate the resumption of critical fortune already delegated to us by the phenomenological tradition, in times already ended since its inauguration with Logical Investigations in 1900, as well to verify the relevance of this approach in some of its most prominent theoretical projects and proposals launched nowadays, through all the american continent and Europe. The productive dialogue between current and once made phenomenologies also leads to consider the phenomenology from here in relation to elsewhere. It is necessary to underline the plurality of places from which phenomenology is thought, as well as the distance that has always been constitutive between these views and is today imposed by the epidemic, social and existential crisis that we live in.
This relationship between times and places in phenomenology expresses the intention to think about how it was made, how it is updated and what is possible tomorrow for this discipline as concrete as it is multifaceted. Between times and places, the constitutive diversity of phenomenology demonstrates the imminent willingness to reinvent itself in order to understand our existence, as well as the fruitfulness of this method to address a series of problems both classic and contemporary. The conferences will debate the foundations of phenomenology, with consciousness and the unfolding of a phenomenological notion of time, in the composition of a descriptive and intentional method capable of reconciling logos and bios, life and reason, up to its various aspects of questioning the existence, situation and place of subjectivity. The event will also discuss the possibilities offered by phenomenology to think very urgent themes, such as interculturality, post-colonialism, gender, social injustice and, finally, the distances that are today imposed on us in the most brutal way.
The Cycle of Lectures: The phenomenology between times and places provide a space for discussion at this time of uncertainty and pain. It aims to offer both a place in which the different periods of phenomenology can be recovered and a time during which the different places where it is made can dialogue. Between times and places, we hope that for a moment our distance will be crossed. When we refer to these times and places between which phenomenology is found, we are thinking about the spatial, disciplinary, temporal, conceptual barriers that phenomenology tries to overcome, becoming past, present and, perhaps, to come. When we refer to the times and places between which phenomenology is found we are thinking about the spatial, disciplinary, temporal, conceptual barriers that it seeks to overcome, making itself past, present and, perhaps, to come.
